Take the Stress out of Turf Management
By Rick Blasi
Golf course superintendents face many challenges in maintaining turf that is healthy and in good condition for members and players. From too many tournaments and demands of the Greens Committee to day-to-day maintenance of the course, there are a lot of factors that can impact how a course can effectively be managed.
We all have our own way of dealing with stress, but sometimes, it is not an easy task. We often rely on an army of good people, good planning and a little luck to accomplish our tasks. Believe it or not, turfgrass also has its own set of stresses that it must overcome. Mother Nature, poor soils, foot and cart traffic, low mowing heights and of course golfers are a few stresses your turf deals with on a daily basis. Even the superintendent can cause some of the stress turf endures. If your turfgrass could talk, it would probably ask, “Why are you doing all of these horrible things to me?” It’s not easy being turf.
Helping turf thrive and overcome these stresses is an ongoing task that requires good management programs to maintain optimum growth conditions. If we could raise heights of cut and prevent golfers from walking or driving golf carts on the course, our turf would be a lot happier. However, in the real world, that is not possible. Fortunately, there are a lot of tools that can be used to give your turf the edge to overcome those daily stresses. Renova® is a product specifically designed for that purpose.
Renova is a unique 3-0-8 nutritional formulation containing plant extracts with beneficial effects for your turf. Applications of Renova can increase plant metabolism resulting in stronger plant vitality and enhanced photosynthetic activity, which helps the plant acquire and utilize nutrients for optimal growth.
Renova targets multiple plant genes in 5 key areas: stress management, plant hormone activity, quality and durability, uptake and translocation and plant vigor. These genes increase the plant’s ability to tolerate or recover from stressful conditions such as physical damage, sodium, drought, heat/cold, disease pressures and flooding. Renova can improve nutrient and moisture use efficiency in plants. Plants that are already stressed or unhealthy will greatly benefit from the plant extracts in Renova that can help a plant overcome stresses.
There’s no reason to be stressed out anymore! You and your turf can relax when you know you have Renova in your turf management program.
